Artifact: NYS AHPERD 2013 Conference Presentation and NYS AHPERD Central North and Central South Zone 2014 Conference Presentation
Date: Fall 2013 and Spring 2014
Reflection:
Below I have the program descriptions and activity packets from two conference presentations I designed and presented. Both presentations were created, submitted, and presented at NYS AHPERD conferences during my junior year. The first was “Creating Fun Games On A Small Budget” which I presented at the NYS AHPERD annual conference in the Fall of 2013. I created the idea for the presentation and brought together a group of undergraduates from the Alliance of Physical Education Majors Club (APEM) and their ideas for games to create the program. The second presentation was “Fun One Minute Physical Education Brain Busters” which I created with the help of Dr. Helena Baert. This was presented with the help of three other undergraduates at the NYS AHPERD Central North and Central South Zone Conference in the Spring of 2014.
These artifacts related to the standard and element because they show professional development through conference attendance and participation through presenting. These were also collaborations of ideas between students and professors which relates to element 6.2. Conferences and presentations are a great way to show and spread new ideas. As a developing teacher it is vital to be active with professional organizations and my colleagues. I have always stressed the important of professional development while in my undergraduate program. Becoming involved while attending conferences has allowed me to grow as a professional and learn from current professionals in the field.
